DJ, hit-making producer and remixer… this is what Lenny Fontana is. He has been one of the leaders in dance music since the beginning. Lenny was born and raised in New York City -"The Melting Pot" and this is where he gets his street music smarts in creating new sounds.His productions have earned him recognition all around the world. Today, Lenny is continuing to drive new electronic dance music trends, teaming up with Defected’s Ridney to produce “Wait 4 U” which received support from Pete Tong and other leading DJs. Following this in 2010, came a massive hit he produced with Jean Claude Ades, the European chart topper “Nite Time” which was on all the major compilation CDs this year, including Roger Sanchez Release Yourself Volume 9. With more big-time tracks already signed, 2011 is destined for greater things to come.
When it comes to DJing, Lenny was the first ever US DJ to play in Pacha Ibiza with Pippi, and has just finished a gigantic 2010 residency every Saturday with Paul Darey on the Space Terrace for Café Ole / Republik Ibiza. Not only that, he helped to compile the event’s Annual CD, released on Clubstar Records. Lenny also played in one his favourite clubs, Paradiso in Mykonos and played the opening of Pacha Mallorca, and played gigs in Rimini, Sardinia, as well in Germany for Republik. Whilst rocking a 20,000 strong crowd at the Xabia Beach Festival in Alicante.
His big international break came with "What You Need", produced by him under the name Powerhouse featuring Duane Harden, on the leading house label Defected in 1999. DJ Magazine proclaimed that the single was a “neck ahead” at the annual Miami Winter Music Conference and became popular with DJs like Danny Rampling, Little Louie Vega and Tony Humphries. The track instantaneously hit the top 20 on the pop charts across the world, combining that with a number 11 position in the U.K, the video being played on MTV in the U.S, and even on the legendary Top Of The Pops show in the UK.
The success led to other hit records, for example the UK top 20 track "Chocolate Sensation” which was released on FFRR/Warners. Previously, he worked stateside for its most highly respected promoters including Free Bass Society, Together, Harmony, Vibe and Good Crew. Under the banner of House Music Marquis, he was very popular at numerous events celebrating Gay Pride Week throughout the U.S. Lenny Fontana has played his part in the history of House music…
